MLM business operate in all 50 states and over 100 countries. One of the most well known and long time established MLM businesses is Amway. Avon is a type of MLM marketing model as well as, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Herbal Life and other bigger companies.
Not all companies that implement this model are good or legitimate, and some of them are rather shady. The MLM model is regulated by the FCC (Federal Trade Commission) and there are rules. Often times it can come very close to what is called a Pyramid Scheme, which primarily pays commissions for recruiting new agents, including sign-up fees to the downline is illegal and should be avoided at all costs.
